- The way Japanese people tilt their heads to one side when they don’t understand something.
- Raising your right hand before taking an oath. When I went to the post office the other day to get my passport, I had to solemnly raise my right hand and recite that everything I had filled out was accurate to the best of my knowledge. I half expected the lady behind the counter to make me put my other hand on a Bible, too.
- Shrugging. I HATE SHRUGGING. I HATE IT SO MUCH. WHY DO YOU PEOPLE DO IT ALL THE TIME? AUGH.
- Raising one eyebrow. It’s kind of amusing, especially when the other person’s eyebrow muscles aren’t that great so their expression looks more like they’re constipated. Oh God, what am I even talking about?
- The giant sweatdrop in anime. I know that people don’t ACTUALLY push out a huge sweatdrop when they’re exasperated, but this must at least be partially based on some real life expression.
- The A-OK hand sign. Although these days it means something a little dirtier.
- Rolling your eyes. Who came up with this? It kind of hurts if you do it too often.
