I never seem to get anything done anymore, largely because I no longer feel like I’m being held accountable for my actions and because there’s always the excuse that I have all the time in the world to fulfill my obligations. The former is because I’m a lazy SOB with little to no self-motivation to do anything and because my friends and family, bless their hearts, rarely badger me to get things done. The latter is because, if you didn’t already know, I’m only taking two online classes right now, I’m unemployed, and I live with my parents. This means that I never really have a reason to leave the house, and so… I don’t.
But that’s all going to change. Here are my resolutions for the upcoming week and a half, split up into two categories.
Basic resolutions
- Get caught up with my sociology exams. There are eight exams posted. It takes about two or three hours for me to study for each exam, so if I work hard than finishing all eight in a week shouldn’t be a problem.
- Deadline: at least one exam a day, Mar 23-30
- Study for two more linguistics exams (Historical).
- Deadline: Mar 31
- Call people and ask them to write letters of recommendation for me already. I need it by April 1 and I’ve been putting it off FOREVER.
- Deadline: Apr 1 preferably, but if they can’t write letters on that short notice (and really, who could blame them?) then ask them to mail them in to AEONet directly ASAP.
- Clean my room and unpack my crap already. That shit has been sitting out in the living room for close to a month now.
- Deadline: Wed (Mar 26)
- Prepare the lesson for the Apr 2 job interview. 30 min lesson plan, 5 minute hands-on.
- Deadline: Sat (Mar 29) but practice routinely until Apr 2 to make sure everything goes smoothly
- Organize finances and create budget for LA trip
- Deadline: Wed (Mar 26)
“Extra” resolutions
- Learn how to make vegetable croquettes
- Walk around the lake every day (and create some kind of daily regiment)
- Start working on time mage cloak
- Work on website stuff
I hope that by posting up this list on the Internet where my friends (and maybe even people I don’t even know) can read it, I’ll be held accountable for carrying out these tasks. If nothing else I can gain a sense of accomplishment by crossing off items, which is sure better than just sitting around and doing nothing.
